Terms of Service

Last updated: October 18, 2026 · Español

By downloading or using Kumquat (the app, its command-line tool and this website), you agree to these terms.

License

Kumquat is free and open-source software released under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and share it under that license. There is no paid tier and no purchase is required.

Official downloads

Get Kumquat only from its GitHub releases, the install script in the repository, or this website. Copies from other sources may be modified.

Your files and your responsibility

Kumquat never changes or deletes your originals unless you turn on "Move the original to the Trash" in Settings, and even then Undo can restore it. Still, keep backups of important files. You are responsible for having the rights to the files you convert.

Optional engines

FFmpeg, LibreOffice, Ghostscript and WebP are separate programs you install yourself. They have their own licenses and terms, which apply when Kumquat uses them.

No warranty

Kumquat is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any damages arising from its use, including data loss.

Trademarks

Mac, macOS and Finder are trademarks of Apple Inc. Kumquat is not affiliated with Apple.
